The House

The house, a 2* listed building, was built as Almshouses for clergy widows in 1750, probably on the site of an earlier building associated with the medieval Parish Church in Corwen. There were originally six small houses, with one room downstairs and one upstairs and a brew house at the end of the row where they could brew their ale (now the kitchen!) Four of the front doors remain and if you look carefully you can see signs of the remaining two. An archway divides the house into two parts and leads into the churchyard and a path to the town square. Corwen itself is a small market town (about 1200 in population). It has two banks, post office and some small shops. There is a swimming pool and gym about half a mile from Coleg y Groes. We are at the foot of the Berwyn mountains and the Snowdonia National park is near.

There are five bedrooms, a lounge, dining room and quiet room. All rooms have central heating (the quiet room has a gas fire) and there is a log fire in the lounge on chilly evenings.
